When using Xello, students are asked to explore Careers, starting with their matches from the Xello Career Matchmaker Quiz. The next step is to save any careers they find interesting. Each career page contains information to help a student learn more about that career. One of the items listed is Education and Training needed for that career. If a career requires further training, it will list the different "Majors" that can be studied to achieve that career goal. The Majors are shown as links that can be selected to go to a webpage with information about the types of courses that an individual would study and a list of all of the schools that offer that particular Major. The list defaults to schools in Michigan, but a student can select any of the 50 US states to view schools in. The Majors and Schools shown in Xello can also be Saved. All of the Schools shown are also hyperlinked to their own page. Once the link is selected a student can see information about that school.
Using Xello to explore careers and learn the path of action is an easy way to get started on making goals & plans for life after high school. Students are required to review and update their Education Development Plans each school year. As students mature their interests and skills will grow and may change.
